Oasis Village is still very much in the early stages of development. The big picture will be to have ten chalets with 6 children and a house mum in each. House mums will be local widows as they are another group of people who are in great need. the cost of one chalet has risen from approximately £1000 to £1700 due an increase of the cost of building materials and fuel.
There are also plans to build a canteen, common room, administration block, library and playground. We not only want to educate and house these children but also to provide a loving, family orientated and fun environment where the children get to enjoy their childhood and are encouraged to work hard and make something of their lives.
So far Oasis Village has been instrumental in engaging up to 20 African men to work at the site. They receive a salary which enables them to support themselves and their family.
Children from a local village called Sakania have also benefitted from day trips and being sent to school. Nicki and Ziso run a children's club at sakania Village every Monday afternoon.
